Easter is almost here! And while there are so many Christmas songs, it feels that we often forget all the great Easter songs. We couldn’t post them all, so we picked five. And it wasn’t easy. So if we missed your favorite, let us know in the comments below!

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

This traditional rendition comes from the North Hall band, a group from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kentucky. Simply beautiful!

Jesus Paid it All

This song just tugs at the heart.  Such a pure Gospel message. No wonder it’s a classic. This performance was recorded at a local church right here in Nashville, not to far from Family Radio’s headquarters.

Because He Lives

This classic hymn can give you hope in any situation and this recording proves it. Recorded in April of 2020, the artists recorded separately because of the pandemic lockdown. So no matter what today brings, remember, you can make it through tomorrow Because He Lives!

In Christ Alone

It wouldn’t be an Easter hymn list without this modern classic! Released in 2002, In Christ Alone is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary—which means in the hymn world it’s just a baby. But this modern hymn is sure to be sung for generations to come!

Christ the Lord is Risen Today!

The title says it all. The perfect song to sing on Easter day. This rendition is performed by another local church right here in Nashville. And they brought a little country energy to this beautiful song. The result is pure celebration!

What did you think of our list? There are so many more wonderful hymns we could have mentioned. Let us know in the comments!  And remember to celebrate this Easter, because He is risen! He is risen indeed.

  1. Best hymns for Easter are:
Christ the Lord is Risen Today! By Charles Wesley
    Christ Arose by Robert Lowry

  2. Lovely! Enjoyable and sing-alongable in the complexity of Humanity with Diversity in Community! Very, very lovely

  3. I know these are not hymns but Handel’s HALLELUJAH CHORUS and WORTHY IS THE LAMB from Messiah

  4. When I survey the wondrous Cross and pour contempt on all my pride…
My father’s favorite was The Old Rugged Cross, and I love that old rugged cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain … and I will cling to the old rugged Cross, its shame and reproach gladly bear….til he calls me home someday… (there’s more!)

  5. I think my favorite is, “Up from the Grave He Arose”. It is a joyful song to sing on Resurrection Sunday!

  6. Family Radio have changed so much this radio station used to have so much beautiful music and now you play music over and over again the same music I wish and pray that you will search back all those music that were played back then. Music that touch your heart and soul.🙏❤️

  7. Up From The Grave He Arose!
So purposeful and a strong reminder that we serve a Living Savior!!
    Can I get an Amen!!

  8. One of my favorites is ” Lamb of God. By Donnie Mcclurkin. It speaks of the essence of the reason Jesus loves us so much and why he died for us.

  9. Songs of Easter are more meaningtful when you realize it’s meant for you! Jesus died He died for you! When He arose, He rose for me! We live because He lives! When He was tortured, He took my place! Those who are suffering, lonely, rejected, Jesus. Is thinking of YOU! Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound! I’m tearing up knowing God does really care for me!

  10. There is many Easter hymns I remember singing growing up that have gone by the wayside. they are ;
    At The Cross
    Where You There?
    Rise Again
Crist The Lord Is Risen Today
    Crist Arose
    He Lives
    He Is Lord
    Because He Lives
    The Old Rugged Cross
I too wish that you would incorporate more songs into your playlist and more artist..

  11. Yes, those are beautiful songs, not just for Easter but all year round. I always loved the old classic hymn, “Because He Lives” and the modern tune, “In Christ Alone.” However, these three favorites listed below should never be forgotten. (1) The Easter Song” by the late Keith Green. (2) “He’s Alive” by Don Francisco and (3) “Rise Again” by Dallas Holm. Thank you & God bless.

  12. I agree, more variation in music is needed. Playing the same songs over and over again is not pleasing, but I appreciate your efforts and the Christian music that is played.
