What’s the point of Psalm 136? Why so much repetition? And what does it mean for our debates over repetition in our worship songs today?”“

The music that accompanies repetitive worship songs is the problem. The musicians will use any type of background music to get people all emotionally hyped up in some churches. Then comes the dancing.. I have seen it.
I love hymns. There is more reverence in the church when hymns are sung. The lyrics are more God glorifying and minister to your soul. You meditate on the words .i was brought up in the church where only hymns were sung. A psalm was also sung every Sunday.. God is Holy, so what ever is sung should display holiness. I find the repetition of gospel music too entertaining , rather than worship focused..
I totally agree & have said these very same words. I too grew up singing hymns that were so reverent & glorifying to God. There’s too much noise all around us. People should hear the peaceful hymns when they’re in church.
