“Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” – II Peter 1:10-11

On July 14, 2025, a man who faithfully served our Lord through over five decades of preaching the Gospel entered the very presence of Jesus Christ. Surely, he was welcomed with cheers from of a multitude of saints—a great cloud of witnesses (Hebrews 12:1).

Pastor John MacArthur finished well. He fought the good fight. He finished the race. He kept the faith (II Timothy 4:7).

He lived his live a vagabond on this earth—it was not his real home. Pastor John spent his life waiting “for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God” (Hebrews 11:10). And now—he’s arrived. He is eating the fruit of the tree of life in God’s Paradise (Revelation 2:7).

Pastor John is in the perfect place—the place where there is no more sin, no more tears, no cares of the world, suffering, sorrow, or weakness. He is perfectly satisfied, fully enjoying the presence and glory of His Savior—the glory which is now revealed in Him (Romans 8:18).

Our hearts grieve with those who knew, loved, and will miss Pastor John. And we also rejoice together over the salvation of our Lord. The ministry of Jesus Christ through the co-laboring of Pastor John in preaching, writing, teaching, prayer, and so much more continues. Lost people will continue discovering salvation in Jesus Christ when they hear the Gospel through the voice of Pastor John MacArthur on Grace to You broadcasts, Family Radio, YouTube videos and more. Praise God!

So let us be inspired by the life of a man who took a stand for salvation in Jesus Christ and never backed down. Let us be grateful that God gives us models to follow—heroes of the faith. And let us praise God—for everything He does is good!

“The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Gracious in all His works.
The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.
He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He also will hear their cry and save them.
The Lord preserves all who love Him,
But all the wicked He will destroy.
My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord,
And all flesh shall bless His holy name
Forever and ever.”
– Psalm 145:17-21

  1. Thank You Pastor John for sharing your faith with the world. Enjoyed your show very much. Enjoy your well deserved rest in Heaven. Prayers to his family & friends left behind, give them joy in knowing he is with the Lord.

  2. My heart is deeply saddened because a Pillar of Jesus Christ is no longer with us. Like Moses in Deuteronomy 34:7 it says, “His eyes were not dim, nor his natural vigor diminished” Pastor John McArthur eyes and vigor for “Unlashing God’s Truth One Verse at a Time” will last for generation to come. His unwavering commitment to the teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ was his Passion. And His love for the church was the battle cry of Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go”. Thank You Pastor John for pouring God word into my life for over 37 years.

  3. At 26 years old, I was a brand new Christian, I really didn’t know what it meant to live as a Christian or how to read the Bible. The Lord in his kindness led me to a local Christian radio station where I first heard John MacArthur and his teaching on grace to you. It was there that I learned to understand, love and trust Gods word. I learned not to be ashamed of the all sufficient word.. Over the years I grew and matured as I studied, read and listened to countless sermons by this faithful pastor, who convicted, encouraged and comforted my heart. We thank God for his ministry and faithful example!

  4. I’ began listening to Dr. MacArthur in 1982 after listening to Vernon Magee . I left the radio on to see who was playing next. It was GTY and it only took one listen to know ll would never be the same. When I moved to LA l made sure to attend Grace Community Church and that became my church home. What a blessing and learning experience it was for me. He contributed to so much of my Christian growth. Even now l feel a warmth when I hear his familiar voice. It makes the sobering reality of Salvation even more serious to me now than when I first believed. When we all pass over to heaven let us remember those who taught us with great reverence and fear, because John reminded us that “ our God is consuming fire “ and holiness is worth striving for. Reminding us we will all stand before the Lord. Amen.

  8. My deepest sincere condolences to the families of John McArthur. As we live our lives here on earth applying the Holy scriptures to our lifestyle, we will be able to reconcile with Jesus Christ Our Messiah just as Pastor John Mc Arthur has. I have experienced and learned from his teachings for a few decades and thank Almighty God for gifting him with ability to spread the Word of God to me and many throughout the nations.

  9. Pastor John MacArthur preached The Truth of the Gospel with love and fire, which is so needed in the world today. His teachings have been and continue to be foundational to this pilgrim’s progress. He was a gift to us all and will continue to be as we are blessed to have so many of his teachings recorded. Please keep sharing them with the listening audience. What a beautiful homecoming in heaven for John MacArthur this week! All praise and honor to our Heavenly Father and His Son, our Savior!

  10. Pastor John was a faithful servant for which I’m truly grateful. when I first heard pastor john I had been listened to the word of man thinking it was the word of God. Pastor John expounded on the word and made it come to life. In doing that Jesus opened my eyes as to the difference. He will be missed. cant wait till i get to heaven and thank Jesus for having faithful preachers in my lifetime of which John is one.

  11. I have listened faithfully to Grace to You for 15 years. I am on my second MacArthur study Bible, wearing out the first one I own a “ton” of his books and booklets . His clarity in preaching, his passion for God’s word and unrelenting commitment year after year was amazing. Dr. MacArthur gave a very heartfelt eulogy for his close friend R.C. Sproul when he passed away in 2017. Two giants of the faith in the 20th and 21st century. Now they are reunited and one of them (which one?) is saying “I was right about baptism,” and having a good laugh. John’s legacy with last for generations.

  12. Well done thou good and faithful servant. I believe our brother in Christ heard as he entered into his heavenly home.
Pastor John, you will be sorely missed but we are very thankful for having a GOD fearing teacher and preacher such as you.
I will forever be thankful for your faithfulness to the Word of GOD.
I’m sure you and R.C. Sproul are praise GOD.
May our Heavenly Father be Praise Forevermore

I’m crying for his lost but I know he fought the good fight and finish his race. God bless Grace to You church I know how much he will be missed. Some of his messages are recorded in my heart. God bless Family Radio for playing his messages every day.

  15. Thank you Pastor John for sharing God’s words with the world.

Your teaching was a blessing to me personally.
I loved when you emphasized on the word of God.
I know your family will miss you very much. I pray God will give them his peace that passeth all understanding.

  16. My heart is heavy with the news of the passing of our dear beloved brother and teacher of the word of our Lord. I have watched countless sermons and teachings from brother John over the years and his approach to explaining the Bible was so crystal clear and apologetically done to emphasis the truth of the gospel even when topics were controversial he did not waiver. He will be missed and my prayers go out to John’s family. Thank you for serving the children of the Lord Jesus Christ all the years with your gift. Enjoy your rest and reward pastor John.

  17. Pastor John was one of the first pastors I listened to when I was first saved a few years ago. His solid biblical expository preaching style was like water to a parched person and I was hooked. I don’t live in CA but I watch Grace Community Church services on line. My John MacArthur study bible is marked up, dog tagged, highlighted, scribbled/written in – it is my most treasured bible in my collection. He was truly an extraordinary man in the way he stood firm, with no deviation, to the solid doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ – his fight against the demonic state of California during COVID theatre proved his tenacity and belief that he was doing the right thing. The man was epic. My heart is sad and I cry for his family who’s mourning I can’t even imagine. God’s blessings were all over you John and you poured them out for all we the sheep so that we will see you again in the presence of Lord Jesus Christ our King.
