Food pantries across the United States are struggling with low supplies and lack of volunteers. But Family Radio listeners are making a difference!
In a recent Community Bridge episode, Jenny Burkhiser talked to Pastor Howie Mann, outreach director of food distribution for Lighthouse Mission—the largest mobile food pantry in Long Island, NY. They discussed how you can be “salt and light” in your community by filling your local food pantry.
You may be wondering how you can make a difference. “Where do I even start?”
One of the best things you can do is call your local food pantry. Ask them what their biggest needs are—and then do what you can!
- If you’re going grocery shopping, buy a little extra to donate.
- Perhaps get together with some friends and volunteer for a few hours!
However you can give, the memories you make will be forever and the blessing you’ll be to people and families struggling with food insecurity will be immeasurable.
For your convenience, we’ve created a database on the Family Radio website with several helpful links to connect with your local food pantry. To make a difference, simply find the city closest to you, follow the link to the food pantry in your neighborhood, and give them a call!
Let’s make a difference together this February. Let’s fill the food pantries!
I listened to this very informative show. My church, in Port St. Lucie, FL, is serving a free meal every Wednesday.
I listened to your message about the hungry, having to choose between paying for heat, and medicine or going hungry. I would love to share this message. Is there any way it coukd be emailed to me. I love your radio station. Bless you all 😇
