On Tuesday, May 19th, Family Radio (91.3FM, KFRB) in Bakersfield, CA was off air due to a loss of utility power caused by a fire. You can see in the picture where CalFire dropped fire retardant on the building and surrounding area. That’s how imminent the fire threat was to our facility!
But a fire is no match for our God and our praying community. I’m reminded of Matthew 8, when the disciples were in fear for their lives. The storm raged on their boat while Jesus slept peacefully, giving no care to the threat of the Galilean waves. You remember the story. Jesus told his disciples not to be men of fear, but men of faith. Then, He modeled faith by rebuking the winds and the sea.
And nature obeyed Him.
The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” – Matthew 8:27
What kind of man is He?
- He is God. John 8:58
- He rules over all creation. Psalm 103:19
- He orchestrates all things for the good of those who love Him. Romans 8:28
- With every divine assignment, He gives the authority to accomplish it. Hebrews 13:20-21
Praise be to God! Our facility is fine. Power is back on and the Word of God continues to be heard over the airwaves.
