Privacy Statement

Loam Media, Inc. formerly Family Stations, Inc., (“Family Radio,” also referred to herein as “us” or “we”) is a Christian nonprofit radio and media ministry whose mission is to share the Word of God and a message of hope in Jesus Christ with people throughout the United States and around the world (“Mission”). 

At Family Radio, your privacy is very important to us. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy” or “Family Radio Privacy Policy”) provides information about the personal information that Family Radio collects and the ways in which Family Radio may use that personal information in its photo, print, or audio and audiovisual recordings made available through any medium, including television, radio, or satellite transmissions, social media platforms, podcasts, or any other physical or electronic media now known or later created.  This Privacy Policy sets out the basis on which we collect and use personal information about you (“Personal Information”) as part of our Mission and the choices you have to limit or prevent certain uses or sharing of that information. This Privacy Policy applies to our website, mobile application, music and other content streaming services (collectively, “Streaming Services”), prayer requests, donations, and other Family Radio products and free resources, including Family Radio teaching on demand podcasts, weekly features, [, other downloadable written materials and Family Radio Hymnals services (collectively, “Services”). 

Personal Information Collection: Family Radio (and/or its Cloud Services Providers, as defined herein) may collect and use the following kinds of Personal Information:

  • Personal Information shared and submitted with your prior consent in the form of stories, prayer requests, donations, correspondence through in person, written, telephone, email, social media or other web-based communications in order to receive resources, share encouragement or fulfill the Mission of  the ministry in various ways, which may or may not include the collection of contact details (first and last name, email address, mailing address), online/technical identifiers (IP address cookies for imprecise geographic location and user device agent), and subjective data (including opinions, preferences and feedback), and potentially sensitive data related to prayer requests (health information, family and personal needs).
  • Personal Information obtained via functional cookies through your use of this website in order to provide additional content, including Bible studies, Bible reading and other biblical content, customized to better serve your needs, such as current Bible chapter bookmarks.
  • When you make a donation or pledge to Family Radio, we may collect and maintain Personal Information from you about your donation or pledge, as follows:
    • contact information: name, complete address, phone number, email address
    • payment information: credit card number and expiration date and/or bank account information, financial institution, and billing information
    • information you wish to share: comments or prayer requests
    • Donation history
  • Cookies:   A cookie is a small file placed on the hard drive of your computer.  Family Radio does not currently use cookies; however, its third party service providers may use them when you choose to access certain Services, including the Streaming Services.  The types of Personal Information collected by such cookies is described in greater detail in the Section below entitled, “Third-Party Websites and Streaming Services.”  You may refuse to accept cookies by not opting in to the use of cookies or by activating the appropriate setting on your browser.  However, as explained further below under “Third-Party Websites and Streaming Services,” if you choose not to accept cookies, you may be unable to access some of the Services.
  • If you send us comments, post content on our social media sites, or respond to a survey, we collect your submission content. 

Using Personal Information: Family Radio may use your Personal Information to:

  • Administer this website and provide, improve, and enhance the Services.
  • Publish a portion of your correspondences with your consent to help encourage our audience throughout the world, taking good-faith precautions to protect your Personal Information, including removing last names.
  • Send you information about other ways of hearing Family Radio programming over the Internet.
  • Send gift receipts to you, and year-end giving statements.
  • Send you information about the ministry of Family Radio and how you may help proclaim the Gospel.
  • For your donations and pledges, to complete your donation transaction(s), to communicate back to you regarding your donation transaction(s), and update you on Family Radio stories, results, and key initiatives (Credit card numbers are encrypted by Family Radio’s third-party merchant account provider (“Payment Processor”) and used only for donation or payment processing and are not retained for other purposes.)
  • Communications. To communicate with you, provide you with updates and other information relating to our Services, provide information that you request (including, without limitation, published or audio materials you have requested without charge), respond to your comments and questions, and otherwise provide listener support.
  • De-identification (including pseudonymization and, in some instances, anonymization) and aggregation. To de-identify Personal Information or create aggregated datasets, such as for consolidating reporting, research, or analysis.
  • General Business Operations. To support our general business operations, including for corporate audit, analysis, and reporting.
  • Protecting Rights and Interests; Responses to Legal Mandates. To protect the safety, property, or security of our website, our business operations and Services, or the general public. To investigate, detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues. To investigate, prevent or stop activity that Family Radio deems, in its sole discretion, to pose the risk of being an illegal or unethical activity or a violation of this Privacy Policy or Family Radio’s Terms of Use for our Services (“Terms of Use”). To use as evidence in litigation, conduct audits, and to enforce this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use.  To the extent that Family Radio is required to do so by law or applicable regulations, including, without limitation, in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings, and in order to establish, exercise or defend your or Family Radio’s legal rights.

Family Radio takes good faith steps to prevent sharing Information with any third parties without your prior consent, including its agents, sub-contractors or other associated organizations or ministries, except for Family Radio’s third-party cloud and streaming services providers and, if applicable, its third-party payment processor (collectively, “Cloud Services Providers”), as needed to provide the Services, or as described above in the bullet point entitled, “Protecting Rights and Interests; Responses to Legal Mandates.” You may also opt-out of the collection and sharing of your Personal Information altogether by exercising your Opt-Out Right, as defined and described further below under “Exercising Your Data Protection Rights”.

Securing your Data:   Family Radio will in good faith take technical and organizational precautions to prevent the unauthorized access to or use of your Personal Information, including the use of industry-standard data security protocols and procedures by Family Radio and its Cloud Services Providers (“Data Security Technology”).   Family Radio and its Cloud Services Providers will store all the Personal Information that you provide on their respective servers, in all cases using Data Security Technology.   Information relating to electronic transactions entered into via this website will also be protected by encryption and/or other Data Security Technology during its transmission.  When we disclose Personal Information for a business purpose, such as, for example, to a Cloud Services Provider for data analytics to meet our reporting obligations, we enter a contract that describes the purpose and requires the recipient to both keep that Personal Information confidential and not use it for any purpose except performing the contract.

  • Third-Party Websites and Streaming Services: The Services, including, without limitation, the Streaming Services, may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Family Radio.  For example, if you click on a link to the Streaming Services, you will be directed to a third-party’s website for purposes of accessing the content of such streaming.  Family Radio is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of any third party, including, without limitation, any third party websites to which you may link from the Family Radio website, and their use of your Personal Information shall be governed by the terms of their respective privacy policies, if any.  We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every website you visit.  In the case of the Streaming Services, unless you have adjusted your browser to reject cookies (as described above under “Personal Information Collection: Cookies”), this type of information is collected automatically when you click on a “listen live,” “Click the play button to start” or similar link and includes the following third-party functional cookies that are essential to receiving the Streaming Services: Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet;user agent string info (e.g. device type), HTTP headers, listener connection timestamp, duration, stream identifier, imprecise geographic location (derived from IP address); computer and connection information such as browser type and version, operating system, and platform; the full Uniform Resource Locator (URL) clickstream to, through, and from our website, including date and time; cookie number; and Services that you viewed or accessed.  Please note that if you disable or refuse third-party cookies, the Streaming Services and possibly some other Services may then be inaccessible to you or not function properly.

Children Under the Age of 13:

Our website is not intended for children under 13 years of age.  No one under the age of 13 may provide any information to or on the website. Therefore, we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13.

IF YOU ARE UNDER 13, DO NOT USE OR PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ON THIS WEBSITE OR ON OR THROUGH ANY OF ITS FEATURES, USE ANY OF THE INTERACTIVE OR PUBLIC COMMENT FEATURES OF THIS WEBSITE OR PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF TO US, INCLUDING YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, TELEPHONE NUMBER, EMAIL ADDRESS, OR ANY SCREEN NAME OR USER NAME YOU MAY USE.

If we learn we have collected or received Personal Information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@familyradio.org.

Cross-Border Transfers:

The Services and our website are controlled and operated by us from the State of Tennessee, United States, and are not intended to subject us to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country, or territory other than that of the State of Tennessee, United States. Your Personal Information may be stored and processed in any country where we have facilities or Cloud Services Providers, and by using the Services, our website, or by providing consent to us (where required by law), you agree to the transfer of your Personal Information to countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States, which may provide for different data protection rules than in your country. In certain circumstances, courts, law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies, or security authorities in those other countries may be entitled to access your Personal Information.

European Union (“EU”) and United Kingdom (“UK”) Residents:

FOR RESIDENTS OF THE EU AND UK ONLY:

Under EU and UK data protection law (i.e., the General Data Protection Regulation/“GDPR” or “UK GDPR”), in certain circumstances (which may or may not be applicable to your you, depending upon the particular facts), you have the right to:

  • request access to your Personal Information;
  • request correction of your Personal Information;
  • request erasure of your Personal Information;
  • object to the processing of your Personal Information;
  • request restriction of processing your Personal Information;
  • request transfer of your Personal Information;  and
  • withdraw your consent (i.e., opt-out of the collection and sharing of your Personal  Information altogether) (your “Opt-Out Right,” collectively, with the above rights, your “Data Protection Rights”).

In addition, you have the right to ask us not to process your Personal Information for marketing purposes.

Exercising Your Data Protection Rights

You may exercise any of these Data Protection Rights (where applicable to your circumstances), including your Opt-Out Right, by contacting us at privacy@familyradio.org  .  If you are a resident of the EU or UK and you believe that we have not complied with the obligations under this Privacy Policy, the GDPR, or UK GDPR, if applicable, you have the right to complain to a Data Protection Authority (“DPA”) in the EU or Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK about our collection and use of your Personal Information. A DPA is an independent public authority responsible for monitoring and enforcing data protection laws at a national level within an EU Member, and the ICO is the data protection authority responsible for enforcing the UK GDPR.  For more information, please contact your local DPA or the ICO (if in the UK).

Data Security during Transmission:

As described above in the section entitled, “Securing Your Data,” our website uses Data Security Technology, including commercial, physical, electronic and managerial procedures, to protect information collected online.  These include firewalls to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control.  The use of this Data Security Technology and other measures is not a guarantee that information supplied over the Internet will not be intercepted.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure.  Although we use Data Security Technology and the above-described measures to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the security of your Personal Information transmitted to or through our website or the data transmission or content delivery networks (“CDNs”) of our Cloud Services Providers. Any transmission of Personal Information is at your own risk.  We are not responsible for the circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on our website or within the CDNs of our Cloud Services Providers.

Changes to the Terms of this Privacy Policy:

Family Radio reserves the right to amend or change this Privacy Policy at any time without notice.  Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be posted on our website.  Please look at the “LAST UPDATED” legend at the end of this Privacy Policy below to see when it was last revised.  Any such amendments shall be effective immediately upon the posting of the revised Privacy Policy on our website, and your continued use of our website following such posting shall constitute your consent to such amended or new version of this Privacy Policy.  Family Radio’s use of any of your Personal Information collected under a particular version of the Family Radio Privacy Policy will be governed by the terms of that version of the Family Privacy Policy.  We encourage you to refer to this Privacy Policy on an ongoing basis so that you understand our current privacy practices and policies governing the use and disclosure of your Personal Information.
