Before God enlightened me into the righteousness of Christ and justification by it, I wondered how it was that, seeing Christ lived [more than 30] years upon the earth, only His death, or at most, the last week of His life, should of any avail for the salvation of sinners.
But blessed be God, I have seen that Christ was all that time working out a perfect obedience for my acceptance with the Father.
“by THE OBEDIENCE OF ONE SHALL MANY BE MADE RIGHTEOUS” (Romans 5:19) is a text that amply accounts for His having spent more than 30 years below, previous to His crucifixion, and is a truth by which my soul is nourished and fed unto life everlasting.
