I Am Thankful

Nov 24, 2016

I am thankful for the wife who says we’re having hot dogs tonight,
because it means she’s home with me, and not out with someone else.

I am thankful for the husband who spends the evening on the sofa being a couch potato, because he is home with me and not out at the bars.

I am thankful for the teenager, complaining about doing the dishes, because it means she’s home, and not on the streets.

I am thankful for the taxes I pay, because it means I have income.

I am thankful for the cleaning I have to do after having company over, because it means I have been surrounded by friends.

I am thankful for the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means I have enough to eat.

I am thankful for my shadow, because it means I am out in the sunshine.

I am thankful for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing, because it means I have a home.

I am thankful for the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking and I have been blessed with transportation.

I am thankful for my heating bill, because it means I am warm.

I am thankful for the large pile of laundry and ironing, because it means I have clothes to wear.

I am thankful for weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been given work to do.

I am thankful for the alarm clock that goes off so early each morning, because it means I’ve been blessed with a new day of life.

And above all, thanks be unto god for his unspeakable gift!
