Forgiveness of Sins

Nov 11, 2016

We read in Colossians 1:14, “In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”
In this verse, we learn that the forgiveness of sins is based upon the eternal death that the Lord Jesus Christ suffered on behalf of the elect. Again we read, “we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” Sadly, many believe that forgiveness of sins is conditioned upon their own works.
So then, who has God forgiven? All those whom Christ planned to save before the foundation of the earth; Romans 11:5.
Then how has He forgiven those He has planned to save? Ephesians 1:7 tells us, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”
And lastly, why has He forgiven? God in His mercy has forgiven sin because He has accepted the sacrifice of His dear Son. Hebrews 1:3.
As we read in Psalm 130:4, “But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.”
