The Mercy of God

Charles Spurgeon

When in their day the wicked crucified the Son of God, they were, unknown to themselves, fulfilling God’s Divine purpose; and in a thousand cases today, the works and will of the ungodly are doing the same. They think that they themselves are free; but, like convicts in chains, they are unconsciously working out the decrees of God Almighty.
by entertaining of STRANGE PERSONS, men sometimes entertain ANGELS unawares; but by the entertaining of STRANGE DOCTRINES, many have entertained DEVILS unawares.
God is able in His mercy, grace, and wisdom to make a way for our sins to be laid on a Substitute, and the guilty sinner to go free is the greatest glory of His nature that He has seen fit to reveal.
