How Shall We Escape?

Oct 07, 2016

In Hebrews 2:3 we find this awesome question: “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him?”
This verse is even more frightening when we compare it with other statements regarding the holiness and justice of God, who is under divine mandate to punish sin to the full extent of the law. Remember, Hebrews 10:31 admonishes, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Galatians 6:7 also warns, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
1 Thessalonians 5:3 adds: “For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”
And finally Luke 21:36 adds an exhortation for the follower of Christ: “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
