The Good Shepherd

The Lord Jesus is described in scripture as, “the Good Shepherd,” meaning the “genuine shepherd,” and not a false shepherd.
He is (also) called the Great Shepherd of the sheep and the Chief Shepherd. He said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
No shepherd knows his flock like [the Lord Jesus Christ]. He had ninety and nine yet when one was lost from the flock, He searched until He found it. He alone is able to say, “I have lost none…”
Thank God He is a Shepherd who is a perfectionist, and will not allow one of His own to be lost.
Of Jesus only could it be said, “Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end…” John 13:1
