Thankfulness

Nov 23, 2016

We read in Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

We also read in Colossians 4:2 that our lives should be characterized with a spirit of thankfulness, that we are to “continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.”

Even during seasons of affliction and trials we should always find room to give praises and thanksgiving. If we have become a child of God we have the greatest reason to be thankful – namely salvation.

Let’s take a brief moment to look into God’s Word and look for reasons to give thanks unto God:

Psalm 92:1-2 states, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.”

Psalm 26:6-7 asserts, “I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD: That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.”

We read in Psalm 9:1, “I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.”

Psalm 95:2 declares, “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.”

And in Revelation 7:12 we read, “Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.”
