In Luke 10:39 we read, “And she—that is, Martha—had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.” When Martha complains Mary isn’t helping her, Jesus tells her in verse 42, “one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
There is only one thing needful—to sit at the feet of Jesus—to hear His Word, the Bible. These are the very words of God. These words are spirit and are life…they are the words of eternal life.
One thing is needful…to learn of Him—to learn how He walked.
Sitting at the feet of Jesus…listening to His Word, submitting to His Word, obeying His Word. There is no place of greater security, greater comfort, and greater purpose than to sit at His feet and hear His Word!
Again, Luke 10:42, “one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
