We read in John 12:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”

The most immediate thing in Christ’s focus was His soon coming death. Much would follow this. However, all that would come after, required His death in order to be realized.

Without Christ’s death there could be no other children of God adopted into His Family, there could be no joint heirs with Christ to the Throne of God.

Oh what mercy God has that in eternity He ordained it so the glory He would bestow upon Jesus would incorporate others receiving eternal life in the Kingdom.

There was no necessity upon God to do this, and there was no necessity laid upon Jesus that He had to lay His life down, or that He needed others in the Kingdom, in order to be glorified. It all arises purely from the mercy of God.

Christ received such abundant glory because the whole of His life was lived in doing what the Father wanted. He did not seek to preserve His life, but sacrificed it all so that others might have life.
