God Developed a Plan, the Gospel

Oct 14, 2016

In spite of man’s sin and the resulting curse upon all mankind and the universe that God brought into existence by His Word, God had conceived and executed an incredible plan to redeem, or reconcile, man to Himself through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
This plan is called a “mystery” in the Bible, because God chose to reveal it to man in stages. It is also called the “Gospel.”
We read in Ephesians 3:9, “And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.”
The individuals who are recipients of this Gospel of God’s grace are spoken about in Isaiah 43:1, where we read “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.”
Psalm 51:10 is a prayer for God to have mercy because only God can create eternal life in a person’s dead soul (or “heart”) by giving him the Holy Spirit: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
Those who have received the gift of salvation have actually been given a new heart, or soul, and only God is capable of performing such a Divine operation.
Ezekiel 36:26 describes what takes place: “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
