The Flesh Crucified

We read in Galatians 5:24, “They that are in Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.”
The Bible teaches in Romans 7:18 that, quote, “In me”–that is, IN MY FLESH–DWELLETH NO GOOD THING.” And again Romans 8:7 states, “The mind of the flesh is ENMITY AGAINST GOD; for it is not subject to the law of God, NEITHER INDEED CAN IT BE.”
Flesh is the expression for the evil, corrupt nature that we inherited due to Adam’s fall. When Adam fell into sin, he died spiritually, and all of his descendants died with him and in him.
All of mankind can be traced back to the loins of our Federal Head – Adam. In his sin, and in the spiritual death into which he fell, I had a share: I died in him. And the power of that sin and death, in which all his descendants share, works in every child of Adam every day.
However, of this flesh for the child of God it is written that, quote, “our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Romans 6:6.
In and in Galatians 5:16 we read, “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.” And finally we find this statement in Romans 8:14, “As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the children of God.”
