Bible Teachers Be Aware

Nov 03, 2016

Those who are Bible teachers should be aware of what God has to say about teachers in James 3:1 where we read, “My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.”
The word ‘masters’ in James 3:1 is often used in connection with Christ as being the ‘Good Master’ or Good teacher. Hebrews 5:12 uses the same Greek word for ‘masters’ but translates it ‘teachers”: “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.”
In James 3:1 God ominously warns that teachers are accountable for handling God’s Word faithfully. It is a matter of the gravest importance. Due to the extreme seriousness of this charge, one should carefully “count the cost” before assuming such a solemn responsibility.
As Jeremiah 23:28 declares, “The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.”
